Advent 2019

For Advent this year, we are pulling out our Jesse Tree again! We are reading through The Jesus Storybook Bible and filling our mini tree with ornaments. This is actually our only Christmas tree this year, as we decided not to spend the season fighting with all the toddlers. Maybe next year...

We are also doing The Shepherd's Treasure. We did the Lost Sheep version at Easter, but it actually started as a Christmas thing. Eli and Maddie loved the Easter version, so I think they will enjoy the Christmas version as we countdown to Christmas. It has been fun to already hear their anticipation as we get ready to "count down to Jesus' birthday!" They have enjoyed a lot of birthday festivities over the past month or so, so they can already connect the celebration aspect for Jesus. I love seeing the little seeds of the gospel already growing in their hearts.

For me personally, I am doing the daily readings from Gentle Leading again. This year's theme is "A Thrill of Hope." It's supposed to explore how the coming of Christ brings us hope in areas of motherhood that often leave us feeling defeated. I really enjoyed last year's advent readings, so I am looking forward to these ones!
