Funny Friday

I am so thankful that today is Friday! I am definitely ready for the weekend each time Friday rolls around. Even though I have to work this weekend (boo), I am still thankful for the "end" of another work week.

Everyone in the office seems to be in a better mood on Fridays :) Today has been super busy, but my co-workers have made it fun- I have pretty much laughed all day today! I am so thankful for my co-workers and the joy they bring to my job. I praise God for the blessing of a good work environment, and I don't ever want to take that for granted.

Here are some of the fun conversations/comments from the day...

Male co-worker: Hey Erin, I really like that desktop background you have [see pic below]...where did you get that?
Me: Thanks! There are actually super creative people who make them and post them on websites where you can download them for free...Sometimes I get them from Shabby Princess, but this one came from LeeLou Blogs
Male co-worker: [blank stare]
Me: It's like a scrapbooking website.
Male co-worker: [continued blank stare] I...don't know...what you're saying to me...right now....

Co-worker: I like those boots you have on today
Me: Thanks! They're my "fun" boots
Co-worker: They look like you're "take no prisoners" boots

I do really like these boots :)

And my personal favorite from the day...
Co-worker: So I ran out of ziploc bags from home, so I thought this was really creative... [starts rummaging around his cubicle looking for something]...well, if anyone sees an envelope full of almonds, let me know...[talking to himself]...I hope I didn't put it with the rest of the mail...[continues looking]...oh here it is! Isn't this creative?

No kidding- he pulled out an envelope full of almonds. He even licked the envelope closed haha :)

Happy Friday!

July 15, 2011 :)

We finally set a date! Mike and I will be married on July 15, 2011. So excited!!! :) Now that a date has been set and a venue has been booked, all of the fun planning can begin. I think that for each step of the way, each decision made, each key element of the wedding confirmed, the more of a reality it becomes. And I love that!

Let the countdown begin :)

Give Me Jesus

Woke up this morning singing this song...
In the morning, when I rise
In the morning, when I rise
In the morning, when I rise

Give me Jesus.
Give me Jesus,
Give me Jesus.
You can have all this world,
Just give me Jesus.

When I am alone,
When I am alone,
When I am alone,
Give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus.
Give me Jesus,
Give me Jesus.
You can have all this world,
Just give me Jesus.

When I come to die,
When I come to die,
When I come to die,
Give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus.
Give me Jesus,
Give me Jesus.
You can have all this world,
Just give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus.
Give me Jesus,
Give me Jesus.
You can have all this world,
You can have all this world,
You can have all this world,
Just give me Jesus.

A Timely Text

So I know I have said it before, but I have the BEST brother ever. I don't really need further proof of that, but this morning I got a really sweet text from him:

Hey i am praying for you that God honors you and mikes love and gives you your desires for this wedding. Let me know what happens. I love you! Our God is good and laid it on my heart to tell you.

He knew that while this past weekend of wedding planning was really fun and exciting, it was also a little stressful in working out details, finances, timing, etc. So this was something I needed to hear this morning. I praise God for my sweet brother and for the constant blessing he is to me!

Planning & Preparing

I can't believe it's already the middle of January! Life has been a whirlwind the last few weeks, so I apologize for not updating my blog yet this year :) There really has not been much to report...I am still enjoying being engaged and am now beginning the wedding planning process. SO many details...and I love every one of them! Those of you who know me, know that I am a planner at heart and that I receive a sort of sick joy from little details haha. So I know that I will definitely enjoy the planning process.

I am also very excited about the preparing process. Because while all of the girly details of planning a wedding are fun, it's important to remember that I am preparing for a marriage. I want to be a godly wife- I want to be loving and patient, kind and supportive, selfless and prayerful. And that is going to take a lot of prayer and help from the Holy Spirit. I have sweet friends who are going to help me along the way, who have already been an encouragement and a challenge to me. And I also have an amazing and godly fiancĂ©e who will help keep me focused too :)

We will do counseling like most couples do, but I am excited about possibly doing some of that counseling with an older, wiser couple in our church. I think there is so much value in hearing from couples who have been married for awhile and know more of the joys and struggles of marriage. It will be a great opportunity to get to know them better, as well as glean from their wisdom.

Mike and I have also started a Promises journal. I'm really excited about this. We are filling the journal with the promises of God that we come across in our quiet times, Bible studies, etc. Then we will have sort of a reference book to look back on throughout our marriage. I am excited to see the promises that God reveals to us both and to see what a blessing it will be in the coming years.

There will be lots to do and lots to prepare for in the next few months, so if you think about it, we would really appreciate your prayers. More than anything, we both want this process to glorify the Lord. We want His name to be praised in our relationship, our decisions, and our lives. The Lord has been immensely good to us both, and we are excited about the things He is placing on our hearts as we begin our lives together.
