Take Me Out...

On Friday, we had the opportunity to go to the Rangers game. My company has tickets they usually give to customers, but one of the executives was unable to go at the last minute, and I was the lucky recipient! It was an unexpected but fun date night for us!

Our seats were not too shabby: behind home plate, only a few rows up :)

We were super close to the field!

With my love :)

The Rangers finally broke their losing streak, and the weather could not have been better. We were grateful for such an unexpected gift!

{iPhone Rewind} :: June

Every Spring, Sasha starts shedding like crazy to get rid of her thick winter coat. This year it seemed like she was shedding SO much more than usual. She got a bath and we used the Furminator to get rid of as much as we could...and we ended up brushing out enough hair the size of our neighbor's dog. No Joke. Good thing I love my puppy :)

The first half of June was dedicated to VBS prep. I was in charge of crafts, so our living room became the working hub for all things VBS craft-related.

I don't know where my brain has been the past 6 months, but I finally realized that my inspection sticker was expired in JANUARY. And it wasn't like I "kept meaning to do it" either; I was 100% oblivious the entire 6 months. I got my registration sticker. I have changed my oil. But never once noticed my inspection. I am SUPER lucky I didn't get pulled over {especially given the fact that the windshield replacement guy used bright orange adhesive to put it back on}. Plus, I got a free car wash when I finally took my car in. #grace

Sasha turned 7 this month, and I made her take a picture with me on her birthday. She is most definitely eyeing the treat in my hand, waiting for the photo nonsense with mom to be over :)

Mike and I had planned a date night, but I wasn't feeling great so we ended up not going out. I came home to these beautiful flowers, which were a sweet "I love you" in place of a night out. So thankful for a patient husband who endures my bad days with me.

These silly kitties don't belong to us, but they are ALWAYS in our yard: sleeping in our flower beds, under our carport, on our front door mat. They have no fear, and even hopped into one of our Bible study girls' car once. In the winter, they try to sneak inside our house. The neighbor kids try to feed them on our poarch. They are siblings, so they are constantly fighting with each other. I walked outside to them wrestling with each other in the soccer goal net. Silly kitties.

{30 Before 30} :: Treat Myself to a Pedicure

I might be a rare Dallas-ite who does not get regular pedicures. To be honest, I think most of the manicures/pedicures I have had were associated with a wedding or special event. I can't remember the last one I got "just because." Which is why I added it to my list. A "treat yo'self" thing {Parks & Rec...anyone?}

Things have been really busy with work, VBS, the church, etc, so I decided once the bulk of the craziness died down I would plan a time to cross this one off my list. So I recruited Laura, and we scheduled our pedicures for this morning :)

There's probably nothing more girly than getting a pedicure and catching up with your best friend. And what better way to kick off the official start of summer? :)

Draw Me Nearer

This is the prayer that has been on my heart the last few days. The lyrics run through my head all day, and wake me up in the morning. The words are harder to say sometimes than others, when my heart strays, and I lose sight of my Savior. I pray this is true of my heart always. That this is truly what I desire more than anything else.

For your nearness, Lord, I hunger
For your nearness, Lord, I wait
Hold me ever closer Father
Such a love I can't escape
For your nearness I am hoping
For your nearness, Lord, I long
Have no need of any other
I have found where I belong
Yes, I have found where I belong

So draw me nearer, Lord
Never let me go
Closer to your heart
Draw me nearer, Lord
Draw me nearer, Lord

In your nearness there is healing
What was broken now made whole
Restoration in its fullness
Lasting hope for all who come
In your nearness I take shelter
Where you are is where I'm home
I have need of only one thing
To be here before your throne
To be here before your throne

So draw me nearer, Lord
Never let me go
Closer to your heart
Draw me nearer, Lord
(x2)
Draw me nearer, Lord

And keep me here, keep me here
There's nowhere else I'd rather be
So keep me here, keep me here
There's nowhere else I'd rather be
There's nowhere else I'd rather be

So draw me nearer, Lord
Never let me go
Closer to your heart
Draw me nearer, Lord
Draw me nearer, Lord
Draw me nearer, my Lord

Amen.

Happy {7th} Birthday Sasha!

Today my sweet puppy turns 7 years old. It's hard to believe that I brought this adorable ball of fluff home 7 years ago. Little did I know what a huge part of my life she would become...

Such a baby face!

Sasha has been with me through a lot of life change. We set out for our life in DFW together, and she has been with me through job change, unemployment, ministry challenges, dating, getting married, health issues, and more. She has been my running buddy and my cuddle buddy. I love my baby girl so much, and I cannot imagine life without her. Life would just be so boring without her :)

I have watched her bound around with never-ending puppy energy, and only now am I starting to see her slow down. While I am grateful for the new level of calm, it also makes me sad to think that my puppy is turning into an old lady. Her little white hairs remind me of her age, though some days it's deceiving because her never-ending puppy spark is definitely still there.

Such a good girl {she's definitely only sitting because she knows she's going to get a treat}

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!

VBS 2014 :: SonTreasure Island

We co-hosted our first Vacation Bible School with First Presbyterian Church this year. This was a great opportunity to engage the surrounding neighborhood and love the kiddos in our community. In the past, FPC has had 20-30 kids, so we prayed for 40-50...and got 70! :)

The theme was Son Treasure Island; it was a fun week full of skits, Bible stories, crafts, games, snacks, and music. The kids had a blast, and we were so excited to share Jesus with these precious little ones.

Pastor Mike and Pastor John welcoming the kiddos

 Sami did an awesome job of organizing the snacks

Banana dolphins :)

Our awesome skit crew

I was in charge of crafts, and it was a TON of work, but definitely worth it! The kids loved making paper plate snorkel masks, wind chimes, treasure boxes, and sun visors.

Craft time!

Dannie was such an awesome helper

Coco Cabana visiting the kids during craft time

Even Crumbs liked craft time :)

Goofy group

We are so thankful for a great week of VBS. Please pray with us, that these little ones would remember the truths they learned and that they would come to know Jesus at a young age.

A McCullough Sleepover

Mike's mom made one request for her birthday: to have all of her kids and grandkids over for a sleepover. So we cleared our schedules and made it happen :)

The evening was filled with food, games, and fun!

Board games with the grandkids = a happy granny :)

Indoctrinating the younguns to the ways of Tetris Link

The guys played some Super Mario Bros...such focus.

Such goofballs.

And when you win something at granny's house, you get to pick a prize from the gift card tree :)

It was a fun sleepover, and a great chance to spend time with the McCullough clan. Happy Birthday mom!
