1000 Hours Outside :: October

We're trucking along slowly, but still enjoying time outside!

We are enjoying all the fall weather! The kids are loving all of the fun leaves falling everywhere, and we have collected enough for a lifetime :)

We kicked off October with a fun trip to Cox Farms! We also got to meet some friends for a fun hike at Gilbert's Corner Regional Park. There were so many different kinds of plants to explore, and the kids worked on a scavenger hunt while we hiked. We also got to taste the honey from honeysuckles, climb some swinging branches, and see a crayfish up close. It was a fun day with friends!

Our church hosted a Fall Festival, and we were so excited to join in on the fun! Our student ministries hosted the event, and it was the perfect family reunion for our church. With hay rides, bounce houses, candy walks, pumpkin painting, balloon animals, pumpkin chunkin,' food trucks, and a showing of It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, it was an afternoon/evening FULL of fun :)

Hay ride!

Our library continued hosting the Outdoor Family Storytime, so we went as much as we could! It started getting cooler, so we may be coming to the end of this fun day for the season, but we are so thankful for this fun weekly activity while it lasted.

We had to move to the parking lot one week, but we still had lots of fun!

We tried to soak up the beautiful weather, even after several days of rain! It was a bit too muddy to play outside, so we decided to get some Vitamin D by taking our reading outside. It didn't last super long, but that just means we need to try it more :)

The fall colors are ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! I wasn't quite sure when the leaves were going to start changing, and then almost overnight it all started to happen, and I am LOVING it!

How it started...

...and how it's going! LOVE. THE. FALL. COLORS.
