Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today we celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a fun history lesson and lots of green {and sugar}. St. Patrick's Day is not usually a holiday I celebrate, beyond wearing green. But since the kids are part Irish, I thought it would be good for them to have a little fun with their heritage. And it gives us fun activities for our day!

We started off by learning about the legend of St. Patrick, and how he used shamrocks to teach the Irish about the Trinity. The kids loved using glue sticks, and at least Maddie could talk about God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit :)

We then glued Froot Loops onto rainbows and talked about the silly traditions associated with St. Patrick's Day {Leprechauns and pots of gold}. Of course, this was a BIG hit, because they loved the Froot Loops.

For snack, we ate green apples, kiwi, and of course, Lucky Charms! I didn't really think through the sugar content of our activities for today, so there was a definite sugar rush in our house haha. But it was fun to talk through a few Bible verses on what the marshmallows in the cereal could help us remember {like the rainbow for God's promises, the heart for God's love, etc.}.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! :)
