Baby Firsts :: Maddie's First Haircut

Our Maddie girl was the last to get her first haircut!

I have wanted to get her hair trimmed for awhile now, but I wasn't sure how she would do. It had gotten SO long, and she really hates having it washed, sitting still to have it brushed/styled, etc. We needed to take the boys to get a haircut, and Maddie wanted one insisted she get one too, so we decided it was time!

The before pic...SO long. And it was so much longer when wet!

To my surprise, she did SUPER well! She was excited to have her hair cut, and she sat {mostly} still, and did everything the hairstylist told her. It helped that she got to watch an episode of Daniel Tiger, but we're just glad she had no problem with the process!

I was so proud of my sweet girl! We ended up cutting a good amount because it had kind of grown to a point in the back, so I figured we might as well start at an even place. And it has already been much easier to wash and tame. The best part?? She didn't seem to have lost any of her curl!

Of course, she still would rather run wild with unbrushed hair in her face than have it combed nicely in pigtails or braids, but I think that's just going to be our Maddie girl :)

Baby Firsts :: Aiden's First Haircut

We took Aiden to get his first haircut yesterday! We took him a lot earlier than we took Eli, but Little Man has a lot more hair! It's still pretty thin, but it was getting to be pretty shaggy {including a nice little grandpa comb-over haha}, so we thought a good little trim was in order :)

Turns out, Aiden's not a fan of getting a haircut. He was upset most of the time, and just really couldn't sit still. The lady was very patient, and was able to get a pretty decent haircut despite everything.

Feeling a little nervous, but still ok at this point

Being Mr. Flirty Pants

Not loving the cape...or the lady with the scissors

Sad little boy

He didn't like the cape, but it at least kept his hands from pushing the comb and scissors away

I finally decided to see if standing up with him would work better, and it helped a little. Not a lot, but he at least stopped screaming. And again, the lady was VERY patient with him.

That look haha

Sweet boy...making Mama feel terrible for making you get a haircut

And once the haircut was all done and the cape was off, he was ALL better. Just like that :)

Now he's ready to turn 1 and look good doing it! :)

Spring Bucket List :: Go to a Farmers' Market

Today we checked out the McKinney Farmer's Market. Even though we lived in McKinney when we were first married, we actually never made it over there...so it was far past time to check it out!

We actually ended up running into some old Redeemer friends, so I didn't get very many pictures, because we were too busy catching up! But I am definitely ok with that. Their kiddos are SO grown up {and we have kiddos now haha}, so it was fun to see them and walk around the market as families. Some other Redeemer friends actually set up their produce at the Farmer's Market every week, so it was fun to see them and support their farm :)

While it ended up not being as kid-friendly as I had envisioned {just from a kid's interest standpoint}, Eli and Maddie still enjoyed seeing the goats, chickens, and ponies. And they definitely enjoyed the peaches, blackberries, and celery we brought home!

Easter Weekend 2019

We had such a fun Easter weekend! My parents stayed with us, and we were thankful for a beautiful weekend to enjoy time together.

Most of the weekend was filled with playing, playing, and more playing :)  Our kiddos just wanted to soak up as much Grandma and Papa time as they could! And Grandma and Papa were not complaining!

Friday was the 9 year anniversary of my and Mike's first date. So we were able to enjoy a fun date away while Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Michael, and "Tia Linda" {my aunt Rosalinda} babysat for us. I forgot to snap a photo, but we ran some errands, sat and talked at Starbucks Reserve, and had dinner at a new restaurant called Mexican Sugar. It was a fun date and so nice to have some time just the two of us!

On Saturday, we celebrated my mom's birthday. We went to lunch, and then we headed to Towne Lake Park. It was a gorgeous day, and we had so much fun!

That tongue :)

Aiden's first time on the swings!

Saying hello to the geese

After naps, we gave Grandma her birthday present, and Eli and Maddie were very excited to help with that haha.

On Sunday, we finished our Shepherd's Treasure journey {post to come tomorrow}, went to church, and then had lunch at home. Granny and Grumpz came over, so we enjoyed a fun afternoon with them too!

Aunt Lindsay sent her cookie love :)

And finally, we had a little Easter egg hunt for Eli and Maddie. We did it inside because we had treated the yard for weeds and didn't want them outside with those chemicals. But they didn't seem to mind at all. Most of the eggs were empty, but I did fill a couple with a few M&M's. Eli loved finding the eggs and filling his basket. As soon as Maddie realized there was something inside one of her eggs, she stopped searching for eggs and just wanted to open it haha.

We had such a fun weekend, and we are so thankful for the gifts of family time, laughter, and love. Thank you, Jesus for the life we experience in You!
