This year, when I asked Aiden what he wanted for his birthday, he said without hesitation: ARMY MEN.
Not Toy Story. But army men. And so, we decked out the house with a fun green army men/camo theme.
To say he was excited is a bit of an understatement :) We predicted we would see his excited flappy arms all day, and we were not disappointed. This sweet boy had a ton of fun, and his brother and sister enjoyed the perks of proximity too.
He got to open some fun presents from family, but I think my favorite were the {unprompted} hand-drawn pictures from Eli and Maddie. They worked so hard to make birthday pictures for him and keep them secret for him, and it was so adorable how excited they were to give them to him!
We also decided to introduce the kids to the fun of Nerf guns :) We set up a series of targets in the basement and then let the kids go to town!
We rounded out the day with army men cupcakes, Aiden's favorite dinner {nachos, not pictured}, and army man pajamas. More than once, my sweet boy told me, "thank you, Mommy for my army man birthday" and it made all the planning and prep worth it. I love these sweet family birthdays; the excitement behind what the decorations will be when they come downstairs in the morning and the celebration and fun all day for the birthday person.
Happy Birthday, Aiden! We love you!
