Hiking Adventures :: Stone Bridge Loop Trail

Today we did a little hike on the Stone Bridge Loop Trail out at Manassas National Battlefield. We had been there previously with some friends, but had been avoiding it during the cicada invasion. But today we got to show the trail to Daddy! It was cloudy and overcast, and we had such cool weather, so it was a great day to explore the trail.

Such goof balls :)

Part of the battlefield

When it started sprinkling a little bit, Aiden kept singing, "I love this rainy day!" And Maddie kept singing, "I love this flower day!" every time she found wildflowers on the trail :)

The trail is about 1.3 miles, so it's not very long at all...perfect for little legs. But there were a few steep climbs, but they all navigated it like champs! Maddie kept saying that she wished we had brought our magnifying glasses and binoculars so we could "look for bugs and other outdoor stuff" :)

The Stone Bridge {where the trail begins} is an actual historic site for the Battle at Manassas, but for our kiddos, it's another fun place to explore, throw rocks, and chase butterflies. The boys threw rocks in the creek while Maddie stalked a little yellow butterfly that kept fluttering near her. She wasn't able to catch it, but it did flutter around her pretty close {several times}, and her giggles were priceless!

It was a fun morning of adventuring with our little crew, and we got resounding requests to come visit this trail again :)
