1000 Hours Outside :: September

September brought AMAZING fall weather! We still had some warmer days, but when the official start of Fall rolled around, we didn't get above 80 degrees.

We tried to take advantage of the beautiful weather as much as we could, even if it ended up not being as many hours as we thought it would be. I also didn't get as many pictures of our outside time, but we enjoyed lots of time in our backyard, riding bikes, and playing on the playground at the church.

We started doing our Morning Mile on days that we do school. We just take a 1-mile walk around the neighborhood, and it's a good way to get out some energy before we sit down to learn!

We spent a lot of time at the Stone Bridge Loop at Manassas Battlefield. Mike took the kids several times while I stayed back not feeling well. But I am really glad that they were able to stretch their legs and enjoy the beautiful weather!

We got invited to a new friend's birthday party, and the kiddos had SO much fun! It was a dino-themed party, which they had up at the church. There were dino crafts, dino chicken nuggets, a dino dig, and enough sugar to keep our kids on a high for 3 days afterward. Most of the games were way over the kids' heads {it was super entertaining to watch teens try to herd a bunch of 5-year-olds haha}, but the kids still had a blast playing outside with new friends. They did pretty good with the obstacle course!

Covered in sweat and sugar

We missed several of the Outdoor Family Story Times this month, but we were able to sneak in one, and we are excited that this fun weekly event will continue into October!

A new set of plants and flowers are popping up everywhere, and we are all anxiously awaiting the change of leaves for fall! It has definitely started, but we are still waiting for the blanket of golden leaves.

Kousa Dogwood- my kids thought it was a raspberry, and it instantly went into mouths. Thank goodness they are edible...they just don't taste very good!

Maddie likes to pick these and bring me some to put in a jar at home :)
