Eli + Maddie :: 6 Months

Eli & Maddie,

Happy Half Birthday, Baby Loves! How are we already half way through your first year?? Hitting the 6 month mark is such a huge milestone for twins! Everyone was right: things are starting to get just a little easier, though you still outnumber mama during the day :)  Every day is just more and more fun with you two! Your little personalities are blossoming, and we love getting to see your little brains work as you discover your world. You each focus really hard on the tasks you are trying to conquer, and are so proud of yourselves when you are able to do something new! You both have taken a keen interest in Sasha, reaching out to her whenever she is near. You smile at each other, get upset when the other kicks you...the true sibling relationship is starting to show haha. My favorite part is that you are starting to snuggle back when we snuggle you, and it's just the sweetest and best feeling in the world. We love you SO much!

Love,
Mama

Stats :: 17 pounds, 27 inches

Loves :: eating, bouncing, drooling

Dislikes :: waiting on your sister

Eat :: we continued introducing pureed foods to you, and you took right to it! this month you tried squash, pears, oatmeal, bananas, and plums. we still only eat solids at breakfast, but I think we're getting ready to start eating solids at lunch too.

Sleep :: buddy, you are still a champion sleeper! you sleep the whole night, and are still taking 3-4 naps. you haven't officially dropped the 4th nap, but there are days when we skip it and you seem fine. you are still in your sleep suit, though when you wake up from naps, you are starting to get close to rolling over, so that might be coming to an end soon.

Play/Development :: you LOVE jumping/bouncing. you hate sitting and want to be up on your feet most of the time. bouncing in your activity center/exersaucer is your most favorite thing ever. you also started rolling from your back to your tummy! though you are following suit with your sister in getting frustrated when you reach your tummy, forgetting how to roll back over. you have made it back a couple of times, so we're hoping that you figure it out a little sooner than your sister has. when you do play on your tummy, you are starting to reach out for toys a little further away. you are starting to sit a little like a tripod, and can hold yourself up for a good amount of time...until you sway too much to one side and go toppling over :)  EVERYTHING goes in your mouth: toys, blankets, your hands, mama's hands, your feet.

Unique to You :: buddy, you are a drooling machine. no joke, you produce more drool than I thought any tiny human could. I don't see any teeth, but surely they're around the corner. because of all the drool, and because you shove your fists into your mouth all the time, you have the most slimy hands imaginable. and you are starting to reach for us and place your hands on our faces. it's so gross, and yet so sweet haha! you also have started giving whole mouth kisses {we think?}, or at least you open your mouth and dive into our faces in an attempt to "eat" our face :)

*all the textbooks and baby development sites say that if your baby's eyes are still blue at 6 months, they will likely stay that way. yay, buddy! we hope you keep your pretty blue eyes :)

Stats :: 19 pounds, 27.75 inches

Loves :: eating, music with daddy

Dislikes :: waiting on your brother, being tired

Eat :: we continued introducing pureed foods to you, and you took right to it! this month you tried squash, pears, oatmeal, bananas, and plums. we still only eat solids at breakfast, but I think we're getting ready to start eating solids at lunch too.

Sleep :: lady bug, you are still a champion sleeper! you sleep the whole night, and are still taking 3-4 naps. you haven't officially dropped the 4th nap, but there are days when we skip it and you seem fine. but when you're ready for a nap, you are ready for a nap. you get a little grumpy, but as soon as you are put down, you are usually out. you also like to sleep with your feet up on the rails of your crib :)

Play/Development :: you are still rolling from your back to your tummy the instant I put you down, but you are still struggling to go back the other direction. I know I need to give you less help and let you figure it out, but I also don't want your tummy to get upset and for you to spit up {which you tend to do}. when you do play on your tummy, you are starting to reach out for toys a little further away. you are starting to recognize your name, turning your head when we call you. EVERYTHING goes in your mouth: toys, blankets, your hands, mama's hands, your feet.

Unique to You :: baby girl, you are such a happy girl! the only times you get upset are when you are tired and when you have a burp. totally understandable. you sneeze every morning at breakfast. without fail. not sure what that's about, but I have decided your sneeze rev-ups are the cutest thing ever. you have also started not wanting me out of your sight, or really farther than an arm's reach. mama has had to vacuum several times with you in her arms {no easy task since you are not quite holding on yet}, simply because you wanted to be close. as hard as that can be sometimes, particularly when I need to help your brother, I can't deny how much I love the baby snuggles.
